Farmable Area
The farmable area feature tells you how much ground in your layout is still open for crops, grazing or machinery once the mounting structure, and any other elements such as roads, transformers, etc, has taken its share.
How to use this feature
Farmable area lives in the Agrovoltaics section of your PV configuration, alongside Projected Ground Coverage. It is only available in Italian and French porfolios. Interested in trying it in other geographies? Please contact your CSM.
- Open the Agrovoltaics section
In the analysis sidebar, expand Agrovoltaics. You will find it both at project level and on each individual PV segment, so segments can use different settings. - Turn on Farmable area
Tick the checkbox. Two settings appear. - Choose what to measure: Table or Full
This decides which ground the calculation starts from:
Table:only the ground inside the panel blocks.
Full: the whole analysable site, including setbacks, corridors and any land the layout left empty. - Set the distance from poles
Distance from poles [m] is the clearance you want to keep around the mounting structure. It is your assumption, not a fixed rule. - Read the result, then vary the inputs. The farmable ground is shaded green on the map. In the analysis report, you'll find this value in the geometry section.
